Dear David, Sarah, and the Members of the Board,

Happy New Year to you all. I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your families.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation to help support melanoma research at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. As you know, melanoma is a devastating disease that is increasing in incidence. If the disease is caught at an early stage, however, melanoma can be effectively treated, and we can provide patients with an excellent prognosis. The focus of my research is on the early detection and prevention of melanoma. My goal is to help accelerate the diagnosis of melanoma through innovative clinical tools and increased knowledge about the disease. With more information about risk factors and clinical clues of melanoma, we should be able to more effectively prevent this disease in the future.

I am excited to let you know that with your support, we have just finished recruiting patients for our current study utilizing a new imaging device to examine suspicious pigmented lesions. Because the preliminary data thus far is encouraging, we are hoping to begin a larger study in the coming year. I am also preparing to conduct patient analyses to investigate other clues for early diagnosis of melanoma and to identify other risk factors to help screen patients. Your donation has helped support my research efforts immensely, and I am excited to build on this work for the future.

Finally, I also wanted to say what a pleasure it is to work with your organization. I share your passion and am inspired by your families to work even harder to help in this battle against this disease.
