Letter from David Newton, Director December 12, 2006 Dear Friends, I hope this letter finds you and your family healthy and happy. It has been another great year for Peter's FUNd Racer and I am anxious to bring you up-to-date. Our eighth annual event will be held on the weekend of February 23rd and 24th, 2007. The incredible transformation that has taken place at Sugarbush over the past year will make this year's Peter's FUNd Racer better than ever. We hope to be able to have our Friday night reception in the owner's lounge at the beautiful, brand new slopeside lodging complex, Claybrook. While the adults register and enjoy a beverage, the kids can be enjoying the outdoor, heated pool. Most of us will then walk next door to Timbers, the fantastic new restaurant at Sugarbush, for dinner. Saturday's schedule will be similar to previous years, but the brand new lodge means a better venue for our party and no more overcrowded lunches. You will love the changes. I always enjoy updating you on how we have spent your generous donations because we are very proud of what we have been able to accomplish. To date, we have donated $13,500 to the Sugarbush Ski Patrol; $35,000 to the Vermont Respite House; $150,000 to the Healing Garden (soon to be renamed when we decide what is appropriate) at Fletcher Allen Hospital; and over $400,000 for melanoma research at Massachusetts General Hospital. As you can see from the significant donation for the healing garden, we have broadened our scope to include not only research, but patient and family care. It is with that spirit in mind that we have committed to a minimum donation of $50,000 from this year's event to the new Hope Lodge in Burlington, Vermont. The Lodge is designed to provide housing for cancer patients who have to travel long distances to receive their treatments. It is a project developed by The American Cancer Society and we have been assured that 100% of our donation will go directly into the building of this state-of-the-art facility. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on how to improve our event. If you have any thoughts involving ways to add value to our exciting auction, we would love to hear from you. Fine wines, restaurant gift certificates, and the like are always welcome but it's often the very unusual item that creates the most excitement (and money) for our charity. Any ideas or contributions would be greatly appreciated. Of course, if you are looking for that last minute stocking stuffer, you may want to consider an early purchase of a raffle ticket for a chance to win our all expenses paid trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Thanks again for your previous support and we hope to see you at Sugarbush in February. In the meantime, have a safe, joyous holiday season. With much appreciation,
